Welcome!
We invite you to explore our website. Better yet, why don't you call or e-mail our minister or come in person and check us out. Whether you are considering a first 'trial' visit to a church or you are a long time or occasional 'church goer', we welcome you and hope you find a church home with us.  Our Sunday service is at 11:00 a.m. all year round.

We are a congregation of the United Church of Canada in the downtown area of Peterborough, on the site where our first church was built in 1835. Despite its location and its long history, our congregation draws its membership from throughout the city and the region, and we are eager to invite those of all ages and from all walks of life to join our Christian family. Building on its rock solid tradition and in a sanctuary that is inspirational, St. Andrew's has wonderful music, strong preaching, a welcoming environment, and a membership that is community active.

Our minister, Joanna MacQuarrie, has been a hit with our congregation since she joined us in 2006. She brings to us a sensitive and caring manner, experience, enthusiasm, thoughtful sermons, and a strong Christian faith. We like to think that our members are pretty good people, too!. We're not all the same. Our beliefs are not all identical. We do share a belief that without faith, life is incomplete. Our church nurtures our individual and personal faiths.

Mission Statement
The people of St Andrew’s are called to live the message of Jesus:
to love God, to love ourselves and to love others.

Vision Statement
St Andrew’s provides a welcoming and friendly place for
all those who choose to make it their spiritual home.
In its inspirational sanctuary or wherever St Andrew’s people gather, there is the opportunity to hear God’s message, to give thanks, to worship, to meditate, to examine the nature and meaning of one’s faith, to seek or give comfort, and to meet the varied spiritual needs of those who participate.
In this way we express our love for God.

St Andrew’s is a place for sharing a common bond as people
of the United Church with all the diversity that this denomination represents.  It is a safe, accepting and supportive place offering many rewarding experiences; where contributing time, talent and resources is done willingly; where all people are valued; where music and laughter and friendship and working together enrich lives;
where young and old appreciate that the earth is God’s gift to us, and that loving and respecting it is our gift back to God.  It is a place where children and young people are encouraged to participate in our service, to be aware of the call to help others, to enjoy the fun and companionship of working together for a common goal.
St Andrew’s is a place where visitors might drop in for a service or a special event  and conclude that this is a church they could be part of – welcoming, alive and forward- thinking.
By loving and strengthening ourselves we are better able
to love others and to love God.

The people of St Andrew’s know that loving others means
that all God’s children deserve to be loved. In responding to Christ’s message, our congregation chooses to focus on three primary goals: to meet the many needs in our community and beyond;to strengthen our relationship with Hospice in its mission to provide support and care for families suffering life-threatening illnesses; and to continue to build and strengthen our relationship with those who face injustice or discrimination because of gender, age, race, colour, sexual orientation, abilities or economic circumstances.
In this way, we can begin to fulfill our promise
to love others as ourselves.
